Web TstAutism, Monitor your child's progress
Do you have doubts about the development of your children? Today we present you a useful website www.testautismo.com where to do questionnaires when you suspect a possible case of autism.
The autism spectrum disorders (ASD) they can be diagnosed at an increasingly younger age, but there are no medical tests, such as a blood test, to diagnose them. There are a number of diagnostic protocols or steps to take if autism is suspected and these steps should always be performed by qualified and properly trained professionals. The evaluation includes questionnaires, where parents answer questions about the child's development and behavior; and observation of the child's play and interaction with others.
Autism Tests:
- ATEC test: The Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist (ATEC) was created to help parents, clinicians, and researchers evaluate almost any treatment for autism. The ATEC measures 4 areas in people with autism; (1) communication and language, (2) sociability, (3) cognitive and sensory, and (4) health/fitness and behavior.
- MCHAT Baby Autism Test: The MCHAT test consists of a form with 23 questions about the child's behavior that parents must answer. In the case of two or more questions for which the child does not comply with the protocol response, and depending on whether these points are decisive or not, a referral to a specialized test would be necessary to confirm or rule out ASD and it is recommended that contact a qualified professional. It is important to note that a negative result on the MCHAT does not automatically indicate that the child has autism.
- Autism Rating Scale Test (CARS): Tool in behavioral detection for children over two years of age used in the most specialized evaluations. The purpose of this scale is to identify autistic people and differentiate them from others who, suffering from a developmental delay, do not show autistic symptoms. This questionnaire also allows autistics to be classified into various degrees of severity of autistic pathology: medium, moderate and severe.
- Autism Spectrum Inventory (IDEA): Assesses autistic traits with severity and depth that a person presents independently regardless of their differential diagnosis. It has 3 utilities; (1) initially establish, in the diagnostic process, the severity of the autistic traits that the person presents (that is, their level of autism spectrum in the different dimensions), (2) Help formulate treatment strategies for the dimensions, in function of the scores in them (as suggested in these articles) and (3) To test the changes in the medium and long term that are produced by the effect of the treatment, thus assessing its effectiveness and the possibilities of change.
Asperger tests:
- Child Asperger Syndrome Test (CAST) 4-11 years. The objective of this questionnaire is the early identification of Asperger's Syndrome, but it can NOT be considered a diagnostic test for Asperger's Syndrome, but rather an instrument to rule out said disorder or to continue evaluating it if suspicions are confirmed. It is useful for the identification of children between 4 and 11 years old.
- Australian Scale for Asperger Syndrome (ASAS) – 6-12 years old (primary): Questionnaire designed to identify behaviors and abilities that may be indicative of Asperger's Syndrome in children aged 6 to 12 years.
- Autonomous Scale for the Detection of Asperger Syndrome and High Level of Functioning Autism – > 6 years: This Scale is not a diagnostic tool in itself, but a tool aimed at facilitating the detection of people who may have Asperger's Syndrome or High-Functioning Autism and for whom it would be of interest to determine their clinical diagnosis and support needs as soon as possible.
