Echevarne erythrocyte omega test.
The test evaluates fatty acids present in the cell membrane of erythrocytes and analyzes the following analytical parameters:

  • Saturated fatty acids: myristic, palmitic and stearic acid.
  • Trans fatty acids: elaidic acid.
  • Monounsaturated fatty acids: palmitoleic and oleic acid.
  • Long chain omega 6 fatty acids: linoleic (essential), arachidonic, gamma-linolenic and dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid.
  • Long chain omega 3 fatty acids: alpha-linolenic acid (essential), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
  • Ratios and indices: arachidonic/eicosapentaenoic ratio, omega6/omega3 and omega3 index (EPA + DHA).
