HERTSMI-2 test – Envirobiomics – Spain

HERTSMI-2 is a mold test that analyzes the provided dust sample for 5 molds. These molds are known as the “Big 5.” HERTSMI-2 is an acronym for Health Effects Roster of Type-Specific Formers of Mycotoxins and Inflammagens – 2nd Version.

How is HERTSMI-2 different from ERMI tests?

HERTSMI-2 differs from the ERMI Test in some aspects:

  • HERTSMI-2 analyzes 5 molds, ERMI analyzes 36 mold species.
  • The ERMI gives the result as an easy-to-understand comparison with an established database of water-damaged buildings and non-water-damaged buildings.
  • The HERTSMI-2 for 5 molds is a more economical analysis to perform compared to the ERMI for 36 molds.

 

What mold species are identified in HERTSMI-2?

  1. Aspergillus Penicilloides
  2. Aspergillus Versicolor
  3. Chaetomium Globosum
  4. Stachybotrys Chartarum
  5. Wallemia Sebi

 

How can the HERTSMI-2 score be used?

A HERTSMI-2 score <10 indicates that the building is safe for reoccupancy.
